Two of my favorite writers are Mike Dooley and Louise Hay. They both have a gift I do not, the ability to say a great deal in a few words. I have heard Mike speak at length in person and it is evident that he gives a great deal of thought when picking his words. Mike is well known for his daily Notes From the Universe. Sign up and have these brief messages sent to your email each day Monday through Friday. You will be glad you did.
Louise Hay has written many books but her desk calendar You Can Do It with wonderful daily thoughts for the day is a must have. Order your own from Hay House Publishing. On November 3, 2015 the page read:
“It is safe to be flexible enough to consider other view points.” As I said I do not have Mike or Louise’s gift for brevity but let me wax a bit wordy on it being safe to be flexible.
I grew up in a religious tradition where life was anything but safe. These people taught and still do that the Devil is always roaming about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. And as far as other view points to them there was only One Truth and any thing else was just a temptation to apostasy or a falling away. A dear lady from that fellowship posted recently on social media something to the effect that you really needed to be careful to listen to God because you might only get one opportunity.
Come on people, God is portrayed as the Perfect Parent, Heavenly Father. If I know anything about parents it is that like good teachers anything they really want to get across that they say more than once. In fact when a parent in frustration says, “I am not going to say another word about this.” The child having heard more than enough on that subject is probably thinking, “Good, I have already heard more than I wanted to hear on that subject.”
It is safe to be flexible enough to consider other view points. Heaven forbid you might just see a better, easier, more fun way to live.
But be careful ( I don’t care for that expression- the Bible says be careful for nothing but in everything give thanks. Who wants to live full of cares?) Let me start again. But be mindful of being flexible enough to consider other points of view or you might find yourself booted out of “the narrow minded people on the narrow minded street society for the short sighted.” If there really is a society so named excuse me.
