War, Good God Y’all, What Is It Good For…

Blog 34 – 5.22.15

We live in violent, angry times where fear and revenge seem to be the favorite themes of books, movies, TV shows, music, and even conversations over meals. Now if anything will mess with your digestion, words and thoughts about fear and or revenge are right up there.

There is a  great line uttered by Yoda to the young Jedi, Luke Skywalker:

Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they
flow, quick to join you in a fight. If you once start down the dark path
forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will as it did Obi
Wan’s apprentice.

In the hierarchy of emotions at the very bottom the lowest one can feel is depression. According to the Abraham-Hicks Emotional Guidance Scale, listed below, Anger is several steps up from Depression and even above Revenge and Hatred/Rage.

1.  Joy/Appreciation/Empowerment/Freedom/Love
2.  Passion
3.  Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
4.  Positive Expectation/Belief
5.  Optimism
6.  Hopefulness
7.  Contentment
8.  Boredom
9.  Pessimism
10.  Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
11.  Overwhelming
12.  Disappointment
13.  Doubt
14.  Worry
15.  Blame
16.  Discouragement
17.  Anger
18.  Revenge
19.  Hatred/Rage

From the book “Ask and It is Given” page 114

Instead of telling people not to be angry we ought to allow them to work their way up the emotional ladder. I hope everyone will take a look at the list above and realize that you cannot tell anyone else how to feel you can only work on your own feelings.

War is an excuse for us to act out our very worst emotions. Some have said the American Civil War was the worst war because brothers fought brothers but that is true of all wars. We are all brothers and the one true enemy of our soul whether you call him Ego or Satan would have us fearing, distrusting, and hating our brothers enough to kill them. My war was Vietnam. There have been several since then but In my mind at least there is no “good war.”

I think the wisest words ever sung about war are: “War, good God y’all, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing. Say it, say it again.”

Yours for peace in our time,
Your Fellow Traveler,
David White
